Happy Father's Day to all Dad's and we hope everyone enjoyed the family festivities.  However, if you're in the same boat as Cheesecake Boy and I, where we don't celebrate Father's Day, we hope you made the best of the gorgeous weather and had a lovely day.  Being the lame couple that we are, instead of celebrating Father's Day, Cheesecake Boy and I celebrate a made up day which we call "Other Half Day", so to make the most of this occasion of spending time together, we decided to head down to Manly Beach and do the walk to Shelly Beach.  We woke up a lot later than expected this morning, so first things first, we had to settle the hungry tummies before our stroll.  The quest to feed ourselves led us to Hemingway's for lunch.

Cafe Cre Asion, Surry Hills

The lovely ChocolateSuze and I met up for lunch together yesterday, and it was decided that our meeting point would be Cafe Cre Asion for some sandwiches and macaron goodness.  Cafe Cre Asion is tucked away in Alberta Street, right next to Berta, and it's the perfect spot to meet someone you have never met before, as they won't get lost in any crowds here.  However, that doesn't mean this place doesn't get busy, because it does.

 

Snag Stand - Westfield CBD, Sydney

It was last Friday lunch time, and hot dogs were on the agenda.  I don't really eat hot dogs, but ever since I found out some of the hot dogs at the Snag Stand are served on a brioche roll, I have not been able to stop thinking of these hot dogs.  You see, at one stage in my teens,  I was obsessed with grilled German frankfurters with hotcakes and BBQ sauce.  It was the combination of salty, sweet and tangy that delighted my fatty taste buds.  However, taste buds change, but memories do not.  I was hoping a sweet brioche bun with a tasty sausage was going to take me back to those teenage years of crazy bliss.  Pho Girl was willing to put the hot dogs to the test, so off we headed to the Snag Stand to satisfied some cravings.

Reuben & Moore - Westfield CBD, Sydney

The other day I was in the city and as Cheesecake Boy had been off his feet the last few days, I decided to bring him some lunch.  I settled for a couple of sandwiches at Reuben & Moore, formerly known as Eat.Deli.Kitchen at the food court in Westfield.  I made sure I got there just before noon to beat the lunch rush.

Pasticceria Tamborrino, Five Dock

The holiday eating continued yesterday, when we dropped the car off at the mechanic for some maintenance before our drive down to the Hunter Valley.  While we were waiting for the car, we decided to take a bus down to Five Dock for some sweet breakfast treats.  We both love our Italian sweets and Pasticceria Tamborrino is one of our favourites.

Taste Baguette - World Square, Sydney

It's another Friday catch up lunch with a friend of mine, and this time we decided to have something simple and healthy for lunch.  We settled on Taste Baguette, which is a favourite of ours, and with the option of dining in, it's a good lunch break away from the office.  I have never had a problem getting a table here, as take away is always the busier option at this place.

Malibu Sydney, Surry Hills

I love gourmet sandwiches and when I have a craving for one, Malibu Sydney is the first place I think of to satisfy my craving.  Malibu Sydney is not a place that screams find me, quite the opposite actually.  You'll have to walk down Elizabeth Street towards Central station, past House the Thai restaurant until you get to the Illustrated Man Tattoo Studio.  From here you have to turn left into Foster Street and tucked away near the corner is Malibu Sydney.  This place is tiny, if you blink, you may very well miss it. Tiny or not, the queues at lunch are crazy for either one of their mammoth sandwiches or salads, which are all made from scratch once you order.  They take their sandwich making seriously here, and if you don't get here early enough, you will have to wait, but it'll be worth it.

Lunch today was going to be a Malibu sandwich affair, as my friend Pho Girl and I, decided that it was about time we satisfied our Malibu sandwich cravings.  However, instead of queuing  and ordering when we got there, we decided to place a phone order before their 11am deadline, for pick up before noon in order to avoid the lunch rush.
