Chat Thai - Westfield CBD, Sydney

On the blustery Friday that just came to pass, a crazy Cheesecake Boy, Dumpling Cousin and I had organised to meet up for lunch at Chat Thai in Westfield.  Had I known the weather was going to be that bad, trust me I would have preferred to stay at the office, but I hate cancelling last minute, so with my safety dangling in the air, I braved the weather and headed out for lunch.  This lunch was a big deal for me, as I tried Chat Thai at Campbell Street during its opening week, years ago now.  The impression that it left on my companions Sushi Girl and KFC Girl back then, well they never wanted to give it a second chance after that, so I arranged for Cheesecake Boy and Dumpling Cousin to join me this time, and I had all my fingers crossed, that this time round the food was going to be good.

Xanthi - Westfield CBD, Sydney

Last Thursday after work, Cheesecake Boy and I didn't want to head straight home and become couch potatoes, so we decided to roam around the city to get some exercise, which led us to getting peckish and wanting some snacks, but the snacks ended up turning into a full blown dinner.  The dinner at Xanthi was completely spontaneous, as I expecting to cook.  Luckily my trusty little point and shoot was in my bag, so I guess you can see that our eyes were definitely bigger than our stomachs, and don't ask how we managed to fit all that food in.  We always managed to eat more than we could at Perama, especially in their last week of trading.  It looks like it will be no different at Xanthi, as we were savouring some of our old favourites.  However, some new dishes came into the equation too.  I will admit that I had difficulty composing this post without drawing comparisons to our previous experiences at Perama, as Cheesecake Boy and I have had many dates,  dinner with friends and family birthday celebrations that we still fondly remember. 

Sushi Hon and Via Del Corso - Westfield CBD, Sydney

It was another Friday lunch catch up with Sushi Girl, and for once Cheesecake Boy could make it as well.  Sushi Girl and I were having a hard time deciding where to eat.  However, Cheesecake Boy felt like some sushi, so that's how we ended up at Sushi Hon for lunch last Friday.

Sassy's Red by Chinta Ria - Westfield CBD, Sydney

One of the things I hate most about renting is waiting for repairs to be done.  You may ask why this post has started off with a rant, but our stove elements have been out of order for a more than a week, and it's becoming an awful pain.  Cheesecake Boy and I love our home cook meals as much as our meals out, but there are times when nothing beats a home cooked meal, especially when you're having a rough week.  

We were roaming the CBD last Thursday night after work, trying to be inspired by something quick and easy.  When Cheesecake Boy guided me towards Westfield, I was thinking that he'd lost his mind, as I know what it's like at lunch time, but to my surprise it was reasonably busy and not packed at all.  When Cheesecake Boy and I walked passed Sassy's Red by Chinta Ria and there was a spare table, we knew we had found our place for a simple no fuss dinner that night.

Snag Stand - Westfield CBD, Sydney

It was last Friday lunch time, and hot dogs were on the agenda.  I don't really eat hot dogs, but ever since I found out some of the hot dogs at the Snag Stand are served on a brioche roll, I have not been able to stop thinking of these hot dogs.  You see, at one stage in my teens,  I was obsessed with grilled German frankfurters with hotcakes and BBQ sauce.  It was the combination of salty, sweet and tangy that delighted my fatty taste buds.  However, taste buds change, but memories do not.  I was hoping a sweet brioche bun with a tasty sausage was going to take me back to those teenage years of crazy bliss.  Pho Girl was willing to put the hot dogs to the test, so off we headed to the Snag Stand to satisfied some cravings.

Reuben & Moore - Westfield CBD, Sydney

The other day I was in the city and as Cheesecake Boy had been off his feet the last few days, I decided to bring him some lunch.  I settled for a couple of sandwiches at Reuben & Moore, formerly known as Eat.Deli.Kitchen at the food court in Westfield.  I made sure I got there just before noon to beat the lunch rush.

Becasse Bakery and Din Tai Fung Dumpling Bar - Westfield CBD, Sydney

Dumpling Sister and I decided to get up early this Sunday and hit the shops before the afternoon crazy peak hit town.  However, we were in need of some sustenance, before we could do some serious shopping.  We decided to head up to the Westfield food court, and see if anything tickled our fancy.  The escalator lead us straight up to Becasse Bakery.  Once, we saw the selection on offer, we knew this was what we had been looking for.
