Bacco Pasticceria, Queen Victoria Building

My sister and I were meeting for a late breakfast today and we settled for Bacco Pasticceria.  It's nice and quiet up on level 2 at QVB this early morning.  Perfect for a catch up session without the usual hustle and bustle.

The shop front

I decided to have a healthy breakfast this morning as I was booked in for high tea at the Park Hyatt for  a 2.30pm start.  Porridge with bananas and strawberries was a good choice as it's filling and I know I wouldn't get hungry until way after lunch so it wouldn't spoil my high tea later.

It's funny how food brings back certain memories because when they bought out the porridge, it instantly reminded me of sleepy weekend mornings when Cheesecake Boy makes me a lovely bowl of porridge with the exact same texture and sprinkling of brown sugar as the one I was served below, except Cheesecake Boy spoils me more with brown sugar and the addition of cinnamon as he knows I like it sweet.

The texture of the porridge at Bacco was lovely without being overly creamy and thin like some porridge's that  are served at other establishments.  However, this porridge is healthier as its not as sweet, which is good due to the sugar overload I was to experience later.

Porridge with banana and strawberries

My sister went for the banana bread that came with ricotta and honey.  The slices were really thick and unlike other banana bread it was not dense.  The texture was almost reminiscent to a light airy cake and the addition of ricotta and honey was a nice touch.

Banana bread

Normally, I would grab a cannolo or macaron too for a sweet treat but no can do today, must make the sacrifice for high tea later.  They have a small but nice breakfast menu that covers all the general favourites.  However, next time I would love to try their lunch menu that starts from 11.30am onwards.

Happy eating, Dumpling Girl.

Sounds like they've improved from the last time I went. It was terrible! Scones for high tea were substituted with banana bread with no explanation, and the 'sandwiches' were just large croutons topped with a garnish. Very disappointing.

Thanks Jen for the heads up on the high tea, as I've been tempted. I would have been fuming if that happened to me.
