Taste Baguette - World Square, Sydney

It's another Friday catch up lunch with a friend of mine, and this time we decided to have something simple and healthy for lunch.  We settled on Taste Baguette, which is a favourite of ours, and with the option of dining in, it's a good lunch break away from the office.  I have never had a problem getting a table here, as take away is always the busier option at this place.

They offer quite a few Vietnamese options here, including fresh rice paper rolls, pho and vermicelli salads.  However, we always come for the baguettes.  The baguettes cost an extra dollar when you dine in.  They claim that the baguettes are freshly baked every 15 minutes and you get a choice of white, wholemeal or rye when you order.  I always choose wholemeal.

My friend went for the Vietnamese style lemongrass chicken baguette on wholemeal.  She's never complained, so I guess that must be a good thing.  If she's didn't like it, this place would be on the black list and we wouldn't be eating here.

Vietnamese style lemongrass chicken: grilled chicken marinated in lemongrass served with coral lettuce, tomato and rocket, $9.50

I always go for the Vietnamese style lemongrass beef baguette on wholemeal.  The bread is always crunchy and warm in my hands.  The filling of lemongrass beef is always beautifully marinated and marries nicely with the pickled vegetables and crisp salad, the mayonnaise brings this all together.  It's always a satisfying lunch and the perfect size.

Vietnamese style lemongrass beef: grilled beef marinated in lemongrass served with crisp iceberg, pickled carrot and radish, cucumber, coriander and spring onion, $9.80

If you're after a simple and quick lunch, either to take away or dine in, then Taste Baguette may be one of your better options in World Square.  The baguettes are always made to order and they have a lot of options on offer, whether it's breakfast, lunch or a sweet treat from their bakery section.  If you miss Red Roll that use to be in World Square as much as I do, then Taste Baguette is more than an adequate replacement for those cravings.

Happy lunching, Dumpling Girl.

Hi Missy Piggy, this roast pork baguette must be something, it will be my next baguette on one of my unhealthy lunch days :)

Hello Joey, looks like we're both out to get that roast pork baguette now, lol.
